Q. Can RMS Studio be used for Internet radio broadcasting?
A. Yes it can.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Is RMS installed on a server?
A. This is optional. It depends on how you want it.
It can be installed on a dedicated server. It can share a workstation for a smaller implementation.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Is there a limitation on concurrent listeners?
A. There is no software limit, but each listener consumes
Internet bandwidth. The maximum number of listeners would depend on how much
bandwidth you have, or where you are hosting your audio stream.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Do you use your own streaming media server or does it require a separate one?
A. We have a number of media server's set-up that can be used for relaying.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Do you do the hosting?
A. Yes we can.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Is the software UNIX or Windows Based
A. It depends on how you configure it. The database could be hosted on a Linux server,
but the main scheduler is a Windows client.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. So the scheduler needs to be installed on a Windows system - can that be a PC
or does it have to be a server?
A. It can be a PC or a server, provided it fits the following specification - Pentium II 266MHZ;
64MB RAM; 75MB Hard Disk. The more power the better, as with all software
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. Can the RMS software be used for an Internet only station?
A. Yes it can. The business issues are exactly the same - scheduling
ads; managing content; generating automated play-out. Online just adds an
extra element of streaming content.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q. How do I log in to RMS?
A. With the SAMPLE database shipped with RMS,
8 different user profiles are set-up in the RMS download version. The user ID's for these profiles are:
SUPERVISOR, BOOKINGSCL, ACCOUNTSCL, SENGINEER, DJ, JOURNALIST, CLASSCL, USER.
Each of the different profiles has access to the module that they specifically need for their job responsibilities.
For example; the bookings clerk uses the Traffic module so this is the only module to which they have access.
The Supervisor can change these profiles or create new profiles. Log in as Supervisor and go to "Administration/Users".
